El Camino inauguration of new building

Sunday August 7th, 2005 was a momentous day in the relatively short
history of The evening hinged around the lighting of seven candles to represent
key points tying in where we are now in the bigger picture of God's
redemptive work in the world. Creation, Jesus, light of the world,
missionary endeavour, Lima churches, Arequipa churches, the local
community around the church and our outreach through a children's
meeting on Sunday afternoons in a poor area on the outskirts of the
city. Representatives of these areas spoke. Here Miguel Vásquez, principle
pastor of a sister TEAM church in Lima and Chuck Cousens, a veteran
TEAM missionary. Around 300 people crowded in to share in the celebrations.
       
Everyone full of thanks for what God has done in the life of this church. Vicente, one of our founding members, gave a clear testimony to the
light of Jesus in his life. Baskets of candles awaiting the climax of the ceremony. The six children chosen to distribute the candles make their way
forward to light their candles beginning the process which will result
in everyone in the building receiving and/or passing on the flame
representing the Gospel message.
       
We sang the last two songs by candlelight and it provided a very
graphic climax to a memorable evening. Brad Quiring announcing the closing song. Candles like stars on a bright night all around the darkened building.
This evening will live long in the memory of those who were privileged
to attend. Please pray that Around 40 children watching a video and enjoying their party bags
after the service.
