A stand of columnar cacti in the hills outside Arequipa. Barely visible, a clump of Arequipa sp. nestles among the rocks. Arequipas have bright red asymetrical
flowers. An unknown tephrocactus species.
       
Another clump of tephrocactus. You wouldn't want to sit on this cushion! An opuntia in flower. I don't think this is a native. It is often planted on the top
of mud walls or used as a hedge for obvious reasons. Hummingbirds like
them too! A trichocereus with a lovely white flower.
