Amy's Ninth Birthday

Steve played games in the park opposite the house. Amy had done her hair in small plaits so it was crinkly! We had lots of fun, even though it was not her birthday until the next
day. Some friends were from school and others from church.

We played coastguards and smugglers. The cake tasted even better than it looked! We paid a £5 deposit for the decorations which had to be taken back! Lighting the candles.

Everyone gathered round for the candles to be blown out. At last they were all lit. It took Amy several goes to blow them all out! The traditional group photo.

What are they plotting now? A tradition here in South America is to shove the birthday person's
face in the cake!! What a mess! Amy had a real stack of presents.

Amy waited until her birthday on Sunday to open them. Gareth was almost as excited as she was! He gave advice and offered help. Could this really be what I so badly wanted?

Yes! A stereo. Now I can listen to
music in my own room! Steve's birthday lunch. His favourite - Chicharron de chancho (pork).
Amy had this too, only a half portion! Rachel went for the trout. Naomi went for suckling pig.

Joel was just his usual happy self! Grandma Susan sent him some socks! Rachel and Naomi watching Amy open her presents. The blue cream icing on the cake was very blue!
